Regaining Innovation

Is it possible that America will regain its status as the ultimate innovator. It seems that the giant has slowly marginalized and outsourced its creativity. Is this a political problem? Or just an inevitable outcome of growth? Will the recession prove to be a wake up call? It is clear the U.S.A needs to develop a fresh image.
